Just this Monday here in the Philippines, November 23, 2009, a noticeable thing happened, a massacre. Mindanao as most people know are where majority the of Muslims lived in the Philippines. They are descendants of Ishmael, followers of the prophet Mohammad.
Politics as we all know, in any country, it is the most dangerous thing to join. Once you get in, there might be no way to get out. As the 2010 Elections is fast approaching, approximately 6 months, the Commission on Election (COMELEC) said that there would be more of these bloody encounters we would be having in the news, just as what happened in Maguindanao, and now it is under the state of emergency. It was foolish as people would say because they included journalists, people who would dig on this issue, people who connects people with daily happenings, people who are very much influential to the public.
Uncle Ben in Spiderman said, "Great power comes with great responsibility". John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902) said that "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". William Pitt said that "Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it". Is it really a big deal to get into a government position, that you are willing to eliminate possible threats? Does this prove our country's immaturity in politics?
In one of Frian's Cryptex blog, he entitled it, Wanna Change or Wala na Change. SO the question now is, is our government going to act on this thing as soon as possible? Will our politics improve and mature? Hopefully.
As closing, I would like to say that this blog is not saying that what happened in Maguindanao is absolutely 100% politics or election related, though it could be. As the saying in court goes and our constitution guarantees, you are assumed innocent until proven guilty. May we as individuals change for the better, for our own as well as for our country.
mas magaling pa rin akong mag sulat seo.. haha XD
